Now, after many years of practice, the Kwan Um Czech Sangha has begun the project of building a rural retreat center. This retreat center will allow us to hold retreats of any length, offer daily morning and evening practice, and provide residential Zen training, both short- and long-term, to monastic and lay practitioners. Our mission is to build a practicing place where everyone is welcome to come, practice together, and support one another in our shared direction. We also hope to be a strong part of the local community so that everyone can benefit from our activities, and together we can build a better world.
Although we are currently under construction, we already offer daily meditation practice, as well as regular retreats and other events.
We welcome you to visit us, and very much appreciate any support you can provide for this project. Thank you!
About Kwan Um School of Zen
The Kwan Um School of Zen is based upon the tradition of Korean Zen Buddhism. The name of the school is derived from the Korean name for the bodhisattva of compassion, Kwan Seum Bosal — “One Who Hears The Cries of The World”.
